Garage and carport lighting – bright and efficient
Very little thought is usually given to garage and carport lighting even though the right light could well prevent your precious car getting scratched by accident. In small narrow garages it would be wrong to have just a single fixture positioned in the middle of the ceiling. It would only light the roof of the car and leave all other areas in shadow.
It is best to position fixtures on side walls at a suitable height and/or on the left and right of the ceiling so the light is distributed throughout the garage. This means you have adequate light at all times and whatever you are doing – whether taking out your bicycle or doing necessary maintenance jobs. Dawn/dusk sensors and motion sensors can be used to switch the light on and off automatically. The light is then there for you only when you really need it, saving you a considerable sum in electricity costs.
